HunterMaclean is pleased to announce that associate Jessica L. McClellan was recently appointed Chair of the American Bar Association’s Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee.
McClellan currently practices in the areas of Maritime Law and General Litigation and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. She is the co-author of yearly updates to the 4th Edition of Admiralty and Maritime Law along with Thomas J. Schoenbaum. McClellan and Schoenbaum also co-authored “An All Hands Evolution: Port Security in the Wake of 9/11,” which was published in the Tulane Law Review, and McClellan was the author of “Maritime Security,” which appeared in the 4th Edition of Admiralty and Maritime Law.
McClellan graduated summa cum laude with Highest Honors from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Political Science in 2000. At the University of Georgia, she was selected for membership in Blue Key and Phi Beta Kappa for her scholarship and leadership.
In 2003, she earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law. During law school, she worked as a research assistant to Thomas J. Shoenbaum, served on the editorial and managing boards of the Journal of Intellectual Property, and participated in the University’s Prosecutorial Clinic.
McClellan currently serves as the President of the William Jay Society of the Telfair Museum of Art and is a member of the Telfair’s Board of Trustees. She is also a board member of the Junior League of Savannah and the Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia Affiliate and is a member of the Maritime Law Association, the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, the Savannah Bar Association, the Propeller Club of Savannah and St. John’s Episcopal Church. An active Junior Achievement volunteer, she also enjoys serving as a local high school mock trial coach.
