SAVANNAH, Ga. – HunterMaclean partner Sarah H. Lamar was recently elected chair of ALFA International, one of the largest legal networks in the world, at the organization’s annual meeting in Chicago. She recently completed a two-year term as vice chair and has previously served on ALFA International’s Board of Directors and the Employment Practice Group Steering Committee.
Lamar practices employment law and has represented employers in litigation in state and federal courts regarding discrimination as well as breach-of-contract and tort claims. In addition, she conducts in-house training for employers and advises clients on a wide range of human resource issues.
“I’m looking forward to working even more closely with the ALFA leadership and enhancing our growing network of member firms all over the world,” Lamar said. “The legal network concept ultimately benefits clients around the globe by connecting a business’s needs with legal expertise in an efficient, cost-effective manner.”
ALFA International was originally founded as the American Law Firm Association. Headquartered in Chicago, ALFA International is comprised of 129 member firms with 78 members in the United States and 51 members in Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. In the U.S., member firms maintain offices in 95 of the 100 largest metropolitan areas.
ALFA International member firms supplement their own expertise and resources with those of other law firms in the network. Consequently, ALFA International clients may reap the benefit of a geographically comprehensive network of exceptional law firms and avoid the pitfalls of retaining counsel in unfamiliar jurisdictions. HunterMaclean serves as ALFA International’s exclusive member firm in Savannah.
Lamar earned a B.A. in History from Yale University and a J.D. from the Emory University School of Law. She is admitted to the bars of Georgia, the District of Columbia and the federal courts in Georgia.
An active community volunteer, Lamar currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council and the Savannah Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
