Attorney Ted Henneman represented the developers in a project to convert a redbrick mill in Gastonia, North Carolina into a multiuse complex. The Loray Mill was once one of the largest textile mills in the world. After a long history, it shut down in 1994. The building was set for demolition until Firestone, the owner at the time, decided to donate it to Preservation North Carolina. The development team of JBS Ventures and Camden Management Partners first expressed interest in the property in 2003. After years of project design, environmental remediation, financial structuring, and related negotiation, the mill is finally moving towards a new purpose as a multiuse complex. The complex has been planned and designed to include apartments, shops, restaurants, and a memorial hall showcasing the mill’s history.
