The Savannah Technical College Foundation Community Council honored 28 people Friday at the 2016 Tribute to Community STARS.
The event, in its tenth year, honors individuals nominated for their service and dedication at work or in the community.
Diana Rivenburgh, author and senior vice president of People & Culture at Seniorlink Inc., served as the guest speaker and praised those honored for always being engaged within the local community.
“When we see images of Savannah, we often see things like the Spanish Moss, the beautiful squares or the fountain in Forsyth Park, but you also see many other things. You see the needs, the homeless, the unemployed and the young people…,” Rivenburgh said.
“And you engage your community to find out what are the most prevalent needs and how we can help fill those needs.”
More than 200 members of the community have been honored since the event began, according to Savannah Tech President Kathy Love.
“From longtime volunteers in our community, dedicated employees to school teachers and principals to elected officials. If you’re here today, you’re in for a treat,” Love said.
