Chris Phillips is a partner in the firm’s Savannah office, specializing in construction law and medical malpractice defense, with additional expertise in products liability, insurance law, and general litigation.

With over 37 years of legal experience, Chris has represented clients in numerous jury trials and arbitrations across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and New York.

A seasoned litigator in the construction industry, Chris advises contractors, developers, public entities, bonding companies, and design professionals. He has negotiated and drafted contracts for significant projects, including hotels, municipal arenas, hospitals, and multifamily housing, often exceeding $50 million in value. His experience extends to handling mechanic’s liens and bond claims. Notably, he successfully defended a contractor in arbitration over a complex apartment project and participated in a dispute over a $90 million courthouse construction project.

Chris has been recognized by his peers as a Georgia Super Lawyer in Construction Litigation and Medical Malpractice Defense and is listed in Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law and Construction Litigation. He has also been honored as part of Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite and named Lawyer of the Year in Construction Litigation and Medical Malpractice Defense for multiple years.

Chris is admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Georgia.

In addition to his legal practice, Chris has lectured on topics like contract negotiation, lien waivers, and contractor’s affidavits at seminars hosted by numerous organizations.

Chris is also actively involved in the community, serving in leadership roles with the Executive Association of Savannah and Benedictine Military School.
