Kirby Mason is a partner in the litigation practice group and serves as HunterMaclean’s general counsel, contributing over thirty years of experience to the Firm. A tough litigator, Kirby is at home in the courtroom where she presents the facts and law in a straightforward manner. She is equally effective in front of a jury as in a bench trial or in mediation/arbitration proceedings.
Over the years, Kirby has litigated a variety of cases. Her breadth of training and knowledge permits her to represent businesses in contract disputes, litigate real estate issues, and defend banking institutions. She has successfully represented employers who have faced employment claims as well as medical providers who have been charged with professional negligence, resulting in numerous defense verdicts.
Kirby is admitted to the State Bars of Georgia, South Carolina, and Montana. She is admitted to practice in all courts in Georgia, South Carolina, and Montana; the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Georgia; the U.S. District Court of South Carolina; and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Savannah Bar Association and remains an active board member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, after previously serving as president of the organization. She has also served on the Firm’s management committee.
Kirby received two B.A. degrees from Whitman College in 1986 and graduated, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1989. Her civic and volunteer efforts include: having served as a board member for Greenbriar Children’s Center, Savannah’s Rape Crisis Center, the Boy Scouts of America, the Emmaus House, and Hancock Day School; volunteering at her church; participating in the Truancy Intervention Program; volunteering in Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build in Rincon, Georgia; and serving on the Allocation Panel of United Way for several years. She participated in Leadership Savannah and was recognized as a Community STAR.
