Savannah Magazine and Business in Savannah recently honored HunterMaclean partner Rachel Young Fields as a 2015 Generation NEXT: Savannah’s Rising Star of Business. For the fifth year in a row, the two publications have partnered to profile the area’s under-40 leaders who have distinguished themselves by their professional achievements and philanthropic service within Savannah and the Coastal Empire.
Fields joined HunterMaclean in 2007 and primarily practices in the areas of business litigation and intellectual property. In addition to handling all aspects of litigation, she counsels businesses and individuals on protecting and managing their intellectual property, including filing trademark and copyright applications.
Fields’ local volunteer work is concentrated with the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, where she serves on the board of directors and as chair of the resource development committee, which coordinates and directs Habitat’s fundraising efforts. Additionally, Fields serves the State Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) as a board member and director of leadership development. She is also co-chair of the State Bar YLD Leadership Academy.
“Rachel is an outstanding member of the next generation of both Savannah leaders and HunterMaclean attorneys,” said Frank S. Macgill, HunterMaclean’s managing partner. “It is rewarding to see her recognized within the community not only for her legal skills, but also for her philanthropic contributions.”
Fields received her B.A. in political science and theatre from Winthrop University, where she graduated cum laude, and her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was on the Georgia Journal of Intellectual Property Law. After graduating from law school, she was inducted into the Order of the Coif, which honors scholarship and academic achievement and is limited to students who graduate in the top 10 percent of their class. Fields has earned the preeminent AV rating by Martindale Hubbell, the highest level of professional excellence for attorneys.
