Ben Hartman is a partner in the estates and trusts practice group and the corporate taxation practice group.
Ben, based in the Firm’s St. Simons Island office, has extensive experience in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, fiduciary litigation, incapacity planning/conservatorships, corporate formation, and governance. Over the years, he has acted as counsel for Glynn County industries, the hospital authority, physician practice groups, nonprofit organizations, and the Brunswick Housing Authority. He also represents various timber interests and bank trust departments.
He is the past president of the Brunswick-Glynn County Bar Association. In 2007, Ben was selected as one of Brunswick’s “20 Under 40” business leaders by Golden Isles Magazine.
Ben has a legacy of extensive community involvement in the Golden Isles. A graduate of Leadership Georgia and Leadership Glynn, he currently serves on the board of governors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He is also the chairman of the Katz-Helen and Ray Whittle, Jr. Foundation and serves on the boards of the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation and the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia. Ben previously served as chairman of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce from 2020 to 2021.
Ben is licensed to practice law in Georgia and is a fellow with the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia. He is active in the Fiduciary Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and has been a frequent lecturer at institutes sponsored by the State Bar.
Ben earned a B.A. in History from Furman University in 1993 and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1996. Ben is a longtime resident of St. Simons Island, where he lives with his wife, Leslie, and their three children. Ben is an elder at St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
