J.T. Johnson is a partner in the Firm’s real estate practice group. A native of St. Simons Island and a graduate of Glynn Academy, J.T. attended the University of Georgia, where he earned a B.B.A. in Finance. He remained in Athens for law school, earning his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. After briefly considering practicing in a larger city, J.T. was drawn home to St. Simons, where he has practiced law for close to two decades. His practice focuses on all areas of real estate law, including assisting developers in the acquisition and financing of property for residential and mixed-use developments, the closing of residential and commercial purchase transactions, representing lenders in secured transactions, serving as local counsel for out-of-state lenders, representing title insurance companies, and drafting and negotiation of contracts and leases. J.T. is one of the leading attorneys in southeast Georgia for high-value residential transactions, and he has written close to one billion dollars in title insurance coverage.
J.T.’s clients include residential community developers, commercial shopping center owners and landlords, developers of multifamily and mixed-use developments, builders, national and regional banks, high-net-worth individuals, family businesses, industrial and residential landlords, and industrial tenants. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Glynn County Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia’s Real Property Law Section, the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorneys Association, and the American Land Title Association.
J.T., his wife Stella, and their four children are members of Community Church, where they have each served in various roles. They are actively involved with the St. Simons Land Trust and the Golden Isles Fellowship of Christian Athletes. J.T. is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Glynn and a member of the Gridiron Secret Society, the Order of the Greek Horsemen, and the Escorts’ Club. He is the secretary-treasurer of the Judicial Invitational Golf Classic and a member of the Davis Love Foundation Club. He previously served on the boards of the Golden Isles Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Glynn County Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, and Skylark. J.T. enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, coaching baseball and basketball, hunting, and watching his children’s numerous extracurricular activities.
