From offices in Savannah and St. Simons Island, the Firm represents client interests in matters that come before elected officials.

The government relations practice group has firsthand experience with local government and can assist clients with a wide variety of regulatory and policy concerns. The valuable experience and high success rate of HunterMaclean attorneys have made them the first call for developers and new business owners, providing seasoned guidance through zoning, land use regulation, environmental approvals, licensing, and many other issues that come before City Councils and County Commissions. In addition to Savannah/Chatham County and St. Simons Island/Glynn County, HunterMaclean government relations attorneys have represented clients before the Boards of Commission for Effingham, Liberty, and Bulloch counties, and before numerous City Councils including Pooler, Tybee Island, Bloomingdale, Garden City, Thunderbolt, and Richmond Hill.

The government relations practice includes attorneys from many of the Firm’s practice areas, including real estate, zoning and land use, environmental law, employment, and litigation.

  • In his real estate and zoning/land use practice, Harold Yellin has worked closely with developers and builders in the Savannah area.
  • Ben Hartman has been involved in economic development and education initiatives and has assisted developers with community improvement districts. He currently works with a large area health care provider on governmental affairs issues.
  • In her position as statewide chair of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Georgia Chapter Government Affairs Council, Sarah Lamar publishes a quarterly employment law legislative update and updates chapters on legislative and regulatory initiatives in the employment arena. She also travels to Washington, D.C. each year with the Georgia SHRM delegation to meet with federal legislators.
